Naming convention

while i was working on an event in suntec late 1 night, my colleague told me tt 1 day she was typing an email to me at hme, her brother saw my email address n commented: “i had a classmate in sec sch with the same name!”. with tt she asked me: “were u from dunman high sch?”

my 1st thought was “shit :(”, my 1st response was “wat’s ur bro’s name?”.

she gave me an evil laugh and said “u guess?”

so it turns out her bro was one of my sec sch classmate. jus wonder how small can singapore be tt i work with his sis 10 yr later. n tt we wouldn’t have realised the relationship had he not spotted my unique name.

Leong Tarn Meng, AKA Liang Dan Ming. Many pple tot tt i am a guy on the 1st look at my name. I was quite entertained when pple who called got embarrased when they were expecting a guy to ans the phone. Of course I’ll use my sweetest voice to tell them “Its ok!!” whahahaha

though i entertain tots of adopting an eng name, i am actually quite proud of my chinese name, esp such a unique one (refer to incident above) In this day n age when most people do not use their chinese name at work, i really like to retain my chinese name (call it the chinese pride). but what really drives me to use an eng name is when pple mis-pronounce it as 大明 or whatever that they can make of the translation.

1 time, a HOD at work pronounced my name as 大明 and i corrected him angrily to pronounce it as 丹明, in front of all his staff. frankly i m getting very tired of having to correct pple again n again. and having to teach pple how to pronounce.

SO GET IT RIGHT: I am 丹明, DAN MING, TANN MING!!!! arrrrgggggg!!!
